Typically, prediction market odds offer a distinct perspective compared to traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, representing their profit margin. This market, however, is driven purely by the collective wisdom of traders, potentially leading to more accurate probabilities, especially as the event approaches and more information becomes available. While sportsbooks may initially set odds based on expert analysis, this market dynamically adjusts based on real-time trading activity and evolving sentiment.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly reflects the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants.
