Typically, prediction market odds tend to reflect the wisdom of the crowd, often proving more accurate than traditional sportsbook odds, especially as an event approaches. However, sportsbooks and this market may initially show differences due to varying factors like public perception, early betting biases, and differing modeling approaches. Sportsbooks often adjust their odds based on betting volume and expert analysis, while this market is driven by individuals directly expressing their beliefs about the outcome. It's common to see convergence as the event date nears, but discrepancies can still occur.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of these shares directly reflects the probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market’s price adjusts based on supply and demand; if more traders believe Francesca Pace will win, the price of shares representing her victory will increase, and vice versa. This dynamic pricing ensures the market reflects the collective intelligence of all participants.
