Sportsbooks often set initial lines to balance action, while this market allows traders to freely adjust probabilities based on their own research and information. If there's a significant discrepancy between the two, it might indicate that prediction market participants have access to information not yet fully incorporated into sportsbook lines, or simply hold different beliefs about the players' chances. Analyzing these differences can be a valuable exercise for informed betting.
