Typically, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, which represents their profit margin. This market, driven by the collective intelligence of traders, aims to reflect the true probability of an event occurring, though discrepancies can exist due to differing information or risk assessments. It’s common to see prediction markets move faster to incorporate new information than sportsbooks, potentially offering more accurate probabilities as the event approaches.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous trading mechanism where users buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring. As more people buy shares in a particular outcome, the price increases, and vice versa. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The platform uses an automated market maker (AMM) model, meaning there isn't a traditional order book; instead, prices are determined by an algorithm based on the ratio of shares bought and sold.
This market resolves around Sep 13, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on the official result of the W50 Evora tennis match between Sofia Johnson and Isabella Marton. The platform will rely on widely available and trusted sources to determine the winner and settle the market accordingly. Traders will be able to claim their winnings or fulfill their obligations based on the final, verified result.
