Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often set initial lines based on statistical models and expert analysis, while this market incorporates a broader range of information and opinions from traders. If sportsbook odds significantly diverge from those seen here, it could indicate differing perspectives on player form, potential upsets, or other factors influencing the match. It’s important to note that prediction markets allow for continuous price discovery as new information becomes available.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of these shares directly reflects the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The more traders who believe a particular player will win, the higher the price of shares representing that player’s victory will climb, and vice versa. This dynamic pricing ensures the market reflects the collective intelligence of those trading it.
