Generally, prediction market odds often reflect a wisdom-of-the-crowd effect, potentially differing from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks incorporate a margin for profit, while this market allows traders to directly assess probabilities. If analysts and polls favor a particular outcome, we might see a corresponding shift in the odds on Polymarket. However, it’s important to remember that prediction markets can also react quickly to new information or changes in sentiment, potentially leading to discrepancies with sportsbook lines. This can create opportunities for informed traders.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring.
