Prediction market odds often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, potentially differing from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own analysis and aim to balance action on both sides, incorporating a profit margin. This market, however, is driven by individuals freely trading based on their own information and beliefs. If a significant number of traders believe a sportsbook is mispricing the probability of a particular outcome, they can express that view by trading on Polymarket, potentially causing the odds to diverge from those offered by sportsbooks. It’s a fascinating comparison of different information aggregation methods.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the probability of each player winning. As more shares are purchased for a particular player, the price of those shares increases, indicating a higher perceived probability of victory. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price reflects the collective assessment of all traders participating in the market. The current price of shares directly translates to the implied probability of each player winning the W35 Kyoto tennis match, as determined by the supply and demand for those shares.

For example, if Haruna Arakawa were to withdraw from the match due to injury, the odds would likely shift dramatically in favor of Heerae Im.
