Prediction market odds often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and to balance action, while this market is driven by individuals willing to put their capital behind their beliefs. If a significant number of people believe a sportsbook has mispriced an outcome, they can express that view by trading on Polymarket. This can lead to prediction market odds diverging from, or converging with, sportsbook lines as new information becomes available and opinions shift. It’s a fascinating comparison of different forecasting methods.
