Typically, prediction market odds reflect a wisdom-of-the-crowd perspective, often differing from initial sportsbook offerings. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and incorporate a profit margin, while this market allows traders to directly express their beliefs about the probability of each outcome. If a significant discrepancy exists between the implied probability on Polymarket and sportsbook odds, it may suggest the market has identified information not yet fully priced in by traditional bookmakers, or that differing levels of confidence exist regarding the event’s potential results.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome of the Yujin Kim vs Chia Yi Tsao match. The price of these shares directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market price adjusts dynamically based on supply and demand, meaning increased buying pressure will raise the price, indicating growing confidence in that outcome, while selling pressure will lower it. This creates a real-time assessment of the event's likelihood based on collective trader sentiment.
