Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often set initial lines to balance action, while this market allows traders to freely adjust probabilities based on their own research and information. If a significant difference emerges, it may indicate that the market believes a sportsbook has mispriced the event. However, it's important to remember that both represent probabilities of an outcome, and discrepancies can arise due to differing opinions and information available to each group. Comparing these odds can be a useful exercise for informed decision-making.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of these shares directly reflects the probability of that outcome occurring, as determined by supply and demand. As more people bet on a particular player, the price of their shares increases, and vice versa. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market's price is dynamic and constantly adjusts based on new information and trader sentiment, providing a real-time assessment of the predicted winner of the Yeongwol tennis match.
