Prediction market odds often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, potentially differing from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own analysis and to balance action, while this market aggregates the views of many individual traders. If a significant number of people believe a sportsbook is mispricing a player’s chances, the prediction market odds will likely move in the opposite direction. It’s common to see discrepancies, especially before significant events or when new information emerges that isn't yet fully factored into sportsbook lines.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous trading mechanism where users buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of these shares directly reflects the implied probability of each player winning. As more people trade, the price adjusts, providing a dynamic assessment of the match’s potential result. The market’s price is determined entirely by supply and demand among traders on Polymarket, and isn't influenced by external factors or a central authority setting the odds.
