Prediction market odds often reflect the collective wisdom of a diverse group of traders, which can differ from those set by sportsbooks. Sportsbooks typically set odds to maximize profit, incorporating a margin for themselves, while this market represents what traders believe is the true probability of each outcome. It’s common to see discrepancies, particularly when significant information becomes available or public sentiment shifts. Examining these differences can provide insights into potential value or mispricing, but remember that both represent probabilities and are not guarantees of the actual result.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders participate, the price adjusts to reflect the collective assessment of the event. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Price movements are driven by new information, changing sentiment, and trading activity, creating a dynamic and real-time representation of expectations for the Soto Neira vs Moyano match.
