Prediction market odds often reflect the collective wisdom of a diverse group of traders, potentially offering a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set their odds based on statistical models and expert analysis, while this market relies on the aggregated predictions of individuals. It’s common to see discrepancies between the two, particularly in events where there’s a lot of uncertainty or where public opinion differs from expert consensus. These differences can create arbitrage opportunities for informed traders who can identify mispricings between the two types of markets.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous trading mechanism where users buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome of the Serkedi vs Belanska match. The price of these shares fluctuates based on supply and demand, effectively creating a probability estimate. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, the price increases, indicating a higher perceived probability. Conversely, selling pressure drives the price down. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market reflects the most up-to-date collective assessment of the event's likelihood.
