Prediction market odds often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set their lines based on their own models and risk assessment, while this market is driven by the collective predictions of traders who are incentivized to be accurate. If a significant discrepancy exists, arbitrage opportunities may emerge, where traders can profit by betting on both the prediction market and a sportsbook. It's common to see prediction markets incorporate information and perspectives not fully captured by traditional oddsmakers, potentially leading to more accurate probabilities.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly reflects the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The more traders believe an outcome is likely, the higher the share price will rise, and vice versa. This dynamic pricing ensures the market reflects the most up-to-date collective intelligence regarding the Monastir tennis match.
