Prediction market odds often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, potentially differing from those set by sportsbooks. Sportsbooks establish lines based on their own analysis and aim to balance action on both sides, while this market aggregates the beliefs of many individual traders. If a significant number of traders believe a sportsbook has mispriced an outcome, they can express that view by trading on Polymarket, potentially driving the odds in a different direction. It’s common to see discrepancies, especially before a lot of real-world information becomes available.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the likelihood of a particular outcome. As more shares are bought, the price of those shares increases, reflecting a higher implied probability. Conversely, selling pressure lowers the price. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of a share directly corresponds to the estimated probability of that outcome occurring, allowing traders to express and profit from their informed opinions about the Monastir tennis match.
