Prediction market odds often reflect the collective wisdom of a diverse group of traders, potentially differing from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, while this market allows anyone to express their view. If sportsbooks heavily favor one player, you might see a different probability distribution emerge here, as traders incorporate unique information or disagree with the sportsbook's assessment. It's common to observe discrepancies, especially before significant events or when new information becomes available.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous trading mechanism where users buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of these shares directly reflects the implied probability of the event happening. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, and the implied probability rises. Conversely, selling pressure decreases the price and probability. This dynamic process creates a market-driven forecast, aggregating the insights of many participants to determine the most likely result of the Monastir tennis match.
