Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and aim to profit by balancing action on both sides, while this market aggregates the beliefs of many individual traders. If a significant number of people believe an outcome is more likely than a sportsbook suggests, the price will move accordingly. It's common to see discrepancies, especially before a large amount of trading volume occurs, as the market efficiently incorporates new information and diverse perspectives.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the likelihood of a particular outcome in the Jiang vs Zhang match. As more shares are purchased for a specific outcome, its price increases, reflecting a higher implied probability. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of a share represents the probability of that outcome occurring, scaled to a value between 0 and 100. This dynamic pricing ensures the market reflects the collective intelligence of its participants, constantly adjusting to new information and changing sentiment.
