Prediction market odds often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, potentially differing from sportsbook odds which may be influenced by factors like house bias or initial public perception. Sportsbooks set initial lines based on their analysis, while this market allows anyone to express their belief about the outcome, leading to a dynamic adjustment of probabilities. If there's a significant discrepancy, arbitrage opportunities may arise, where traders can profit by betting on both platforms. However, it's important to note that prediction market odds are driven by speculation and can be more volatile than traditional sportsbook lines.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome of the Maanshan tennis match. The price of these shares directly reflects the implied probability of a particular player winning. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now.
