Prediction market odds often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, potentially differing from traditional sportsbook odds due to varying information sources and incentives. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own analysis and aim to balance action on both sides, while this market allows anyone to express their belief about the outcome. If there is a significant difference, arbitrage opportunities may arise, where traders can profit by simultaneously betting on Polymarket and a sportsbook. However, it’s important to note that prediction markets may have lower liquidity than established sportsbooks, especially for niche events.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome of the Maanshan tennis match. The price of these shares fluctuates based on supply and demand, reflecting the collective prediction of the market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The closer the match date, the more the price will likely converge towards the true probability of either Seo Yun Choi or Ruien Zhang winning. The current price indicates the market's assessment of each player’s chances of victory.
