Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can sometimes differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often set initial lines based on statistical models and expert analysis, while this market aggregates the beliefs of many individual traders. If a significant discrepancy exists between the two, arbitrage opportunities may arise. However, it’s important to remember that both represent probabilities of an outcome, and neither is guaranteed to be perfectly accurate. Comparing them can offer a broader perspective on the potential result.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders buy shares, the price increases, indicating a higher perceived probability. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market’s price reflects the collective assessment of all participants, and the platform facilitates this price discovery process based on supply and demand for shares related to the Maanshan tennis match.
This market resolves around Oct 5, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The platform will verify the result against these sources to determine the winning outcome and distribute payouts accordingly.
