Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own analysis and aim to balance action on both sides, while this market aggregates the views of many individual traders. If a significant number of traders believe a particular outcome is more likely than sportsbooks suggest, the prediction market odds will adjust accordingly. It's common to see discrepancies, especially as new information emerges or public sentiment shifts regarding the players’ performance in the Hurghada tournament.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The more traders who believe Yuliya Perapekhina will win, the higher the price of shares representing her victory will climb, and vice-versa for Federica Sacco. This dynamic pricing reflects the collective intelligence of the crowd and adjusts in real-time as new information becomes available.
