Prediction market odds often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, potentially differing from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, while this market allows anyone to trade on their belief about the outcome. If a large number of traders believe a player has a higher chance of winning than sportsbooks suggest, the price will move accordingly. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information, biases, or simply varying interpretations of the players' form and potential. Examining both sources can provide a more comprehensive view.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and exchange shares, the price adjusts to reflect the collective assessment of the Kuznetsova vs Vlajic match. The current top outcome, as indicated by the share price, is the one the market believes is most likely to happen.
