Typically, prediction market odds offer a distinct perspective compared to traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, which represents their profit margin. This market, being driven by the collective intelligence of traders, tends to more closely reflect the true probabilities as perceived by the crowd. However, sportsbook odds can be influenced by factors like public betting patterns and promotional offers, potentially creating differences. It’s always valuable to compare both to form a well-rounded assessment of the likely outcome.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous trading mechanism where users buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of these shares directly reflects the implied probability of Charlotte Van Zonneveld or Mia Horvit winning the match. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information emerges, the price adjusts accordingly, creating a dynamic representation of the collective forecast.
