Often, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and incorporate a profit margin, while this market reflects the aggregated beliefs of informed traders. If a significant discrepancy exists between the two, it might indicate that the market perceives information differently than the sportsbook, or that traders believe the sportsbook’s odds are miscalibrated. It's worth comparing the probabilities implied by both to assess potential value, but remember that prediction markets are driven by user consensus.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome of the Pohle vs Soriano Santiago match. As more shares are purchased for a particular outcome, its price increases, reflecting a higher implied probability. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of each share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring, as determined by the collective actions of all participants. This dynamic pricing ensures the market stays up-to-date with the latest information and sentiment.
