Often, prediction market odds reflect a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, while Polymarket allows traders to directly assess probabilities. This can lead to discrepancies, especially when public opinion strongly favors one outcome. If a large number of people believe a particular player will win, the odds on Polymarket may shift more dramatically than at a sportsbook. It’s common to see prediction markets outperform sportsbooks in accuracy, as they aggregate diverse opinions and incentivize informed trading.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each player winning the Constanta tennis match. The price of these shares directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information emerges, the price adjusts accordingly, creating a dynamic and real-time assessment of the match's potential result. The current volume traded indicates the level of interest and confidence in each player’s chances.
