Typically, prediction market odds reflect a wisdom-of-the-crowd effect, often differing from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and incorporate a profit margin, while this market represents the aggregated beliefs of informed traders. If a significant discrepancy exists between the two, opportunities for arbitrage may arise. However, it's important to remember that prediction markets are forward-looking and can incorporate information not yet reflected in sportsbook lines. The efficiency of this market depends on the number of participants and the information they bring to bear.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of these shares directly reflects the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information becomes available, the price adjusts accordingly, providing a dynamic assessment of the event’s likelihood. The market's price is determined purely by supply and demand for shares representing each possible outcome.

Several factors could influence the price of this market before resolution. Any news regarding player form, injuries, or changes in playing conditions could shift trader sentiment. Unexpected upsets in other matches involving these players could also impact perceptions of their relative strengths. Furthermore, significant betting activity or large trades on Polymarket could cause noticeable price movements. Ultimately, any information that alters the perceived probability of either player winning has the potential to move this market.
