Often, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, incorporating a profit margin. This market, however, is driven by the collective wisdom of traders who are incentivized to accurately predict the outcome. As a result, the odds on Polymarket may reflect information or insights not fully captured by sportsbooks, potentially leading to discrepancies in implied probabilities for the Brasov tennis match.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each outcome. The price of a share directly reflects the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The more traders who believe a particular player will win, the higher the price of shares representing that player’s victory will climb, and vice versa. This dynamic pricing ensures the market reflects the most up-to-date collective prediction.
