Prediction market odds often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, while this market allows anyone to express their belief about the outcome. If a significant number of informed bettors believe a sportsbook is mispricing the probability of a certain result, we may see divergence between the two. It's common to see prediction markets move faster to incorporate new information than sportsbooks, especially in dynamic situations.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more people buy shares in a particular outcome, the price increases, and vice versa. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market reflects the collective intelligence of all participants, and provides a real-time assessment of the likelihood of each possible result in the Sanchez vs Catanzarite match.
