Frequently asked questions

Prediction market odds, like those displayed on this market, often reflect a different kind of information than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and incorporate a profit margin, while prediction markets are driven by participants directly forecasting the outcome. This can lead to discrepancies, as prediction markets may better aggregate diverse perspectives and react quickly to new information. However, both aim to accurately represent the probability of an event occurring. Experienced bettors often consult both sources to gain a more complete understanding of the potential for the Virginia vs. Florida State game.

Differences in pricing between Polymarket and Kalshi are common and stem from several factors. Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Each platform has its own user base, trading rules, and liquidity levels, which can influence price discovery. For example, one platform might attract more sophisticated traders or have higher trading volume for this specific market. Additionally, differing interpretations of available information or varying risk appetites among traders can contribute to price divergence. The current volume of $2,151,365 suggests active trading, but the distribution across platforms impacts how quickly prices converge.
