Frequently asked questions

Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often set initial lines based on statistical models and expert analysis, while this market incorporates the collective predictions of many individuals. If a significant discrepancy exists, arbitrage opportunities may arise, where traders can profit by betting on both the prediction market and a sportsbook. However, it's important to note that sportsbooks may adjust their odds based on market movement, and vice versa, leading to convergence over time.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the likelihood of each outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, and the implied probability rises. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market's price reflects the aggregated sentiment of all participants, creating a dynamic and responsive valuation of the event's potential outcomes. The current volume traded provides insight into the market's activity.

This market resolves around Sep 14, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, the market will determine which team—Villarreal or Real Betis—scores the first goal in the second half of the match. The resolution will be based on official match data and sources, ensuring an accurate and impartial determination of the winning outcome. The result will be publicly available and easily verifiable following the conclusion of the game.

Several factors could influence trading activity in this market leading up to resolution. Late-breaking news regarding player injuries or suspensions for either Villarreal or Real Betis could significantly shift expectations. Changes in team form, tactical adjustments, or even weather conditions on match day could also impact the perceived probabilities. Additionally, any significant pre-match analysis or expert opinions released could sway trader sentiment and cause price fluctuations. Unexpected lineup announcements shortly before kickoff are also likely to move this market.
