Frequently asked questions

Generally, prediction market odds often reflect a ‘wisdom of the crowd’ effect, potentially differing from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and incorporate a profit margin, while this market represents the collective beliefs of traders who have a financial stake in the outcome. If a significant number of traders believe a sportsbook is undervaluing a particular outcome, they can express that belief by trading on Polymarket, potentially driving the odds closer to what they perceive as the true probability. It’s common to see discrepancies, especially before a significant event or breaking news.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in whether Villarreal or Levante will score first in the first half. As more shares are traded for a particular outcome, its price increases, indicating a higher perceived probability. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of a share directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome occurring, allowing traders to express their views and profit if their predictions are accurate. The market’s price is determined solely by supply and demand among traders on Polymarket.

This market resolves around Sep 20, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, the outcome will be determined by which team, Villarreal or Levante, scores the first goal in the first half of the match. The official match records will serve as the basis for verifying the result. Traders who correctly predicted the first team to score will be paid out according to the final share price at the time of resolution. The resolution process is designed to be transparent and based on objective data.

Several factors could influence trading activity in this market. Any news regarding team lineups, injuries to key players (especially strikers), or changes in weather conditions could shift expectations. Unexpected announcements about managerial tactics or team form could also impact the odds. Furthermore, general sentiment surrounding the teams' recent performances and head-to-head records could play a role. Even significant betting patterns observed elsewhere might influence traders on Polymarket, leading to price adjustments as the match draws closer.
