Generally, prediction market odds often reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set their lines based on their own analysis and to balance betting action, while this market allows anyone to express their belief about the outcome. If a significant number of people believe a particular player will win, the odds on Polymarket will shift accordingly, potentially diverging from initial sportsbook offerings. It's common to see prediction markets more accurately forecast outcomes, especially when there’s a lot of information available.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders participate, the price adjusts to reflect the collective assessment.
