Typically, prediction market odds reflect a different set of information and incentives than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, while prediction markets allow traders to directly assess probabilities. This market, like others, can sometimes show divergence from sportsbook lines due to differing opinions or access to unique information among traders. It's common to see prediction markets respond quickly to news or developments that might not be immediately reflected in sportsbook odds, offering a potentially more dynamic assessment of the event's likelihood.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome.
