Frequently asked questions

Prediction market odds often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, potentially offering a different perspective than traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and risk management, while this market aggregates the beliefs of many individual traders. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information, biases, or simply variations in opinion. If significant differences exist between the two, it may indicate opportunities for value betting, where one venue offers more favorable odds than the other. However, it’s important to remember that both represent probabilities, and neither guarantees an accurate prediction.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the likelihood of each outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders participate, the price adjusts to reflect the collective assessment. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market's price is driven by supply and demand; if many traders believe Valencia will score first, the price of shares representing that outcome will increase, and vice versa. This creates a dynamic pricing system that responds to new information and changing sentiment.

This market resolves around Sep 20, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Resolution will be based on which team scores the first goal in the second half of the Valencia CF versus Real Sociedad de Fútbol match. The official match records will be used to determine the winning outcome. The platform will verify the result against these sources to ensure accuracy and transparency. Traders will then be able to claim their winnings or adjust their positions based on the final result.

Several factors could influence the price of this market before resolution. Any news regarding player injuries or suspensions for either Valencia or Real Sociedad could significantly shift expectations. Tactical changes announced by either manager, such as a change in formation or starting lineup, could also impact the perceived likelihood of each team scoring first. Even in-game events during the first half, like a red card or early goal, could cause a rapid adjustment in the market price. Overall match form and recent performance of key players are also important signals traders will consider.
