This set of markets focuses on predicting the total points scored by both teams during the third quarter of a college football game. The outcomes depend on whether the combined score exceeds specific thresholds, offering various levels of difficulty for accurate prediction.
The markets resolve based on the total points scored by both teams specifically during the third quarter of the USC vs Rutgers college football game scheduled for September 19, 2026. Each market has a different threshold for the total points, ranging from more than 2.5 points to more than 27.5 points. If the combined score exceeds the specified threshold for a given market, that market resolves to Yes; otherwise, it resolves to No. All markets consider only points scored during the third quarter. If the game is postponed but starts within 48 hours of the original time, the markets remain open and resolve based on the final result. If the game does not start within 48 hours, the markets resolve to a fair price. Kalshi clarifies that it is not affiliated with the NCAA, and all trademarks remain property of their respective owners.
Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, while this market allows anyone to trade based on their own analysis. If a significant discrepancy exists, arbitrage opportunities may arise, where traders can profit by simultaneously buying on Kalshi and selling on a sportsbook (or vice versa). However, it's important to remember that prediction market odds are constantly evolving as new information becomes available.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous double auction. Traders submit buy and sell orders for contracts representing their beliefs about the 3rd quarter total. The current price reflects the probability of the event occurring, as determined by supply and demand. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price moves up as more traders believe the total will be over 5.5 points, and down as more believe it will be under. This dynamic pricing mechanism ensures the market reflects the collective intelligence of all participants.
This market resolves around Sep 19, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the final score of the 3rd quarter of the USC vs Rutgers game is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on the official game statistics as reported by a trusted sports data provider. The market will settle to 100 if the total points scored in the 3rd quarter are over 5.5, and to 0 if the total is 5.5 or under. Traders holding contracts will be paid out accordingly.
Several factors could influence the price of this market. Any news regarding key player injuries for either USC or Rutgers would likely cause significant movement. Changes in weather conditions, particularly if they are expected to affect scoring, could also impact trading activity. Furthermore, as the game progresses and early scoring trends emerge, the market will react quickly to adjust to the new information. Even general sentiment and public perception of each team’s offensive capabilities could play a role in shifting the price.
