Often, prediction market odds reflect a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. This is because prediction markets allow anyone to participate and express their beliefs, potentially incorporating information not yet reflected in sportsbook lines. While sportsbooks set odds based on their own models and profit margins, this market aggregates the wisdom of the crowd. Discrepancies can arise due to differing opinions on player form, potential upsets, or even external factors influencing the match. It’s common to see prediction markets move independently of sportsbook odds as new information emerges.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The more traders who believe Jiang/Zhang will win, the higher the price of shares representing that outcome will climb, and vice versa for Kenin/Potapova. This dynamic pricing ensures the market reflects the collective intelligence of those trading on the platform.

Traders will then be able to claim their winnings based on the final result.
Several factors could influence the trading activity in this market. Any news regarding player injuries, changes in team composition, or unexpected performance in preceding matches could significantly shift the odds. Weather conditions at the US Open could also play a role, potentially favoring one team's playing style over another. Additionally, general shifts in public sentiment, driven by social media or expert analysis, can impact the market as traders adjust their positions. Unexpected upsets in other matches within the tournament could also indirectly affect this market.
