Typically, prediction market odds reflect a wisdom-of-the-crowd perspective, often differing from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, while this market aggregates the beliefs of many individual traders. If a significant discrepancy exists between prediction market probabilities and sportsbook implied probabilities, it may suggest that the market perceives information differently or has access to unique insights. It's common to see this market adjust rapidly to news or developments that impact the perceived chances of either player winning.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the likelihood of a particular outcome. As more shares are purchased for a specific outcome, the price of those shares increases, reflecting a higher implied probability. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring, as determined by the collective actions of all traders participating in the market. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market reflects the most up-to-date collective intelligence.

Several factors could significantly influence this market. Any news regarding player injuries, changes in coaching staff, or unexpected performance in preceding matches would likely cause price fluctuations. Weather conditions at the US Open could also play a role, potentially favoring one player's style of play over the other. Public sentiment and analysis from tennis experts could also shift the market, as traders react to new information and opinions. A strong showing by either player in a warm-up tournament could also move the probabilities before Sep 19, 2026.
