Typically, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, while this market aims to represent the collective wisdom of traders. If a significant discrepancy exists between prediction market probabilities and sportsbook implied probabilities, it may suggest differing opinions on the likely outcome of the US Open Juniors Girls Doubles match. However, it’s important to remember that both represent probabilities based on different methodologies and information sources.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the likelihood of a particular outcome. The price of these shares fluctuates based on supply and demand, reflecting the collective predictions of all participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The more traders who believe James/Skliar will win, the higher the price of shares representing that outcome will rise, and vice versa for Eigelsbach/Pircher. The current volume traded is $30.
