This set of markets tracks the point differential in a college football game between UMass and Buffalo, allowing participants to bet on whether the winning team will exceed various point margins. Each market corresponds to a specific threshold, with outcomes determined by the final score.
All markets resolve based on the official final point differential of the UMass vs Buffalo college football game scheduled for October 17, 2026. If Buffalo wins by exceeding the specified point margin, the corresponding 'Buffalo wins by over X points' market resolves to Yes; if UMass wins by exceeding its specified margin, that market resolves to Yes. All markets share identical secondary rules: if the game is postponed but starts within 48 hours of the original time, it remains active and resolves per the final result. If the game does not start within 48 hours of its scheduled time, all markets resolve to a fair price, meaning they settle equitably based on circumstances preventing play. Kalshi explicitly disclaims any affiliation with the NCAA, and all trademarks remain property of their respective owners.
Often, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and risk management, while this market represents the collective predictions of many individuals. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information, biases, or simply the dynamic nature of a prediction market where prices adjust continuously with each trade. It's common to see this market move in response to news or events that haven't fully been incorporated into sportsbook lines yet.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing their belief about the final spread. The price of a contract reflects the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders buy into a particular outcome, its price increases, and vice versa. This dynamic pricing mechanism ensures that the market reflects the most up-to-date collective intelligence on the UMass vs Buffalo game.
This market resolves around Oct 17, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The final point spread of the UMass vs Buffalo game, as reported by a major sports data provider, will determine whether the 'over' or 'under' contracts will pay out. Traders holding contracts on the correct side of the spread will receive a payout, while those on the incorrect side will forfeit their investment. The precise payout amount is determined by the contract price at resolution.
Several factors could influence the price of this market leading up to the game. News regarding key player injuries for either UMass or Buffalo would likely have a significant impact. Changes in weather forecasts, particularly if they suggest adverse conditions, could also shift the market. Unexpected coaching decisions or significant shifts in public perception, as reflected in polls or analyst predictions, could also cause movement. Any late-breaking information that alters the perceived likelihood of either team covering the spread could lead to price fluctuations.
