Prediction market odds and traditional sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different participant bases and incentive structures. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and manage risk, while prediction markets like this one are driven by traders seeking profit through accurate forecasting. This market aggregates the collective judgment of many independent participants, which can sometimes offer a contrarian view to mainstream sportsbook consensus. Comparing the two can reveal where informed traders see value relative to conventional betting lines.
On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. On Polymarket, this market is priced through an automated market maker that converts trader positions into real-time probabilities. As participants buy or sell shares tied to each outcome, the price adjusts continuously to reflect the latest consensus. The mechanism incentivizes accurate predictions because traders profit when their view outperforms the crowd. Prices update instantly during active trading, allowing you to enter or exit positions at transparent, market-determined rates.
