Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Each platform attracts different trader demographics, liquidity pools, and regulatory frameworks. Kalshi operates under CFTC oversight in the U.S., while Polymarket serves a global audience with different risk tolerances and access patterns. Order flow timing, funding availability, and platform-specific incentives can cause temporary price gaps. Additionally, how each platform frames the outcome—Tunisia to score first versus neither team scoring first—influences which traders participate. These structural differences mean identical events can trade at slightly different odds, creating arbitrage opportunities that savvy traders exploit until prices converge.
Team news—starting lineups, injuries to key forwards, or tactical announcements—can shift odds significantly. Weather conditions on match day, recent form streaks, and head-to-head scoring history all influence trader sentiment. Betting market moves at major sportsbooks often precede or mirror prediction market shifts, so monitoring those lines offers early signals. Pre-match commentary from analysts and any last-minute roster changes will likely trigger repricing. Close to kickoff, late money flowing into one side can create sharp moves as informed traders position ahead of the opening whistle.
