Discrepancies can arise due to differing information, biases, or simply the dynamics of each market. It's common to see this market adjust rapidly to new information, whereas sportsbook odds might be slower to react. Comparing the two can offer valuable insights into public perception and potential value.
On Predict, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell contracts representing different outcomes. The price of each contract reflects the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Predict, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information becomes available, the prices adjust accordingly, providing a dynamic assessment of the event's likelihood. The current price indicates what traders are willing to pay for a share of the potential payout if their predicted outcome comes to pass. This creates a constantly updating forecast.
