Frequently asked questions

Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often set initial lines to balance betting action and incorporate a profit margin, while this market relies on traders directly expressing their beliefs about the likelihood of each outcome. If a significant discrepancy exists, arbitrage opportunities may arise, where traders can profit by betting on both the prediction market and a sportsbook. However, it’s important to remember that both venues have their own unique information and biases influencing the odds.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in whether Toulouse or Le Havre will score first in the first half. The price of these shares fluctuates based on supply and demand, directly reflecting the collective prediction of market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information becomes available, the price adjusts to represent the most up-to-date assessment of the outcome. The current implied probability of each team scoring first is derived from these share prices.

This market resolves around Sep 19, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, the outcome will be determined by which team, Toulouse or Le Havre, scores the first goal during the first half of the match. The result will be based on official match data and verified against credible public sources. The market will then settle, and shares will be redeemed based on the winning outcome.

Several factors could influence the price of this market before resolution. Any news regarding team injuries, particularly to key attacking players for either Toulouse or Le Havre, would likely cause significant movement. Changes in weather conditions, such as heavy rain or strong winds, could also impact the expected style of play and influence trading activity. Additionally, pre-match analysis from reputable sports analysts and any late-breaking team news could sway market sentiment and cause the odds to shift. Finally, significant betting volume itself can also drive price changes.
