PredictionHero - Resolution Divergence Alerts (RDA)

Divergence Detected

Issue: Polymarket uses a three-way categorical resolution model (one outcome selected from three mutually exclusive options), while Kalshi's description presents three separate binary Yes/No markets. The underlying event logic is identical, but the market structure and settlement mechanism differ significantly.Hero tip: Confirm with Kalshi whether the three markets are independent binary contracts or function as a categorical split. If independent, ensure your position sizing accounts for the fact that exactly one will resolve Yes. If categorical, request clarification on how Kalshi prevents multiple simultaneous Yes resolutions. Cross-platform arbitrage may exist if odds are not properly calibrated to reflect the structural difference.

Critical divergence points:

  • Polymarket: Three-way categorical market with mutually exclusive outcomes. Exactly one of Blue Jays, Giants, or Draw resolves to Yes; the other two resolve to No. Quote: 'This market will resolve to Toronto Blue Jays if the Toronto Blue Jays is winning the game at the conclusion of the 5th inning. This market will resolve to San Francisco Giants if the San Francisco Giants is winning the game at the conclusion of the 5th inning. If the game is tied at the conclusion of the 5th inning, this market will resolve to Draw.'
  • Kalshi: Three separate binary Yes/No markets, each corresponding to one outcome (Toronto win, San Francisco win, or tie). Each market independently resolves Yes if its condition is met. Quote: 'If Toronto wins the first 5 innings... then the market resolves to Yes. If San Francisco wins the first 5 innings... then the market resolves to Yes. If Toronto and San Francisco tie in the first 5 innings... then the market resolves to Yes.'
Our PredictionHero Resolution Divergence Alerts (RDA) are there to help users identify potential differences across platforms. They do not replace or supersede the official rules and description of any prediction market. Kalshi

Resolution is determined by the score at the end of the first five innings of the professional baseball game scheduled for July 7, 2026 at 9:45 PM EDT. Frequently asked questions

Prediction markets like Polymarket and Kalshi operate on real-money trading mechanics where prices emerge from supply and demand, often reflecting sharper, more granular probabilities than traditional sportsbooks. While sportsbooks set fixed lines with built-in margins, prediction markets allow continuous repricing as new information arrives. For this market, traders adjust positions based on injury reports, weather, bullpen matchups, and live game momentum, potentially offering better value or earlier signal detection than static sportsbook odds on the first 5 innings outcome.

Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Each platform attracts distinct trader demographics, contract designs, and liquidity pools. Polymarket's binary structure and larger user base may drive faster price discovery, while Kalshi's regulatory framework and order-matching engine can produce different equilibrium levels. Funding rates, withdrawal delays, and platform-specific incentives also influence how traders value the first 5 innings outcome. These structural differences mean identical information can be priced differently across venues until arbitrage or market maturation narrows the gap.

Key catalysts include lineup announcements, starting pitcher confirmation, and injury updates for both teams. Weather conditions at the stadium—wind direction, temperature, and humidity—can significantly affect early-inning scoring dynamics. Bullpen availability and recent form of relief arms matter heavily in a compressed five-inning window. Live game momentum, early runs, and defensive plays during the first few innings will drive real-time repricing. Pre-game betting action and sharp money flow on other sportsbooks may also signal informed positioning that traders incorporate into this market's price.
