Frequently asked questions

Prediction markets and traditional sportsbooks price outcomes using different mechanisms. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and lock in profit margins, while prediction markets reflect aggregated trader belief through continuous price discovery. This market often reveals consensus that diverges from sportsbook spreads, especially as new information emerges closer to game time. Comparing the two can highlight where sharp traders see value or where public sentiment on a prediction platform differs from professional oddsmakers. Neither is inherently more accurate, but the differences themselves signal where uncertainty or disagreement is highest.

On Predict, traders buy and sell shares representing each outcome, and the market price reflects the collective willingness to trade at any given moment. On Predict, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more capital flows toward one team, its price rises, incentivizing contrarian traders to take the other side. This continuous auction mechanism means odds update instantly with each trade, without a central operator setting lines. The result is a dynamic, real-time probability estimate that responds faster to breaking news than traditional markets.

This market resolves around Jul 12, 2026, once the game concludes and the result is verifiable from credible public reporting. The outcome is determined by the official final score and the specific team designated as the winner in the market title. No further action is required from you after the event occurs; the platform automatically settles positions based on the confirmed result. Early resolution is not typical unless the game is officially cancelled or postponed beyond the resolution window.

Key catalysts include lineup announcements, starting pitcher confirmation, and injury updates for either roster. Weather conditions at game time—wind speed and temperature affect ball carry—can shift expectations, especially in San Diego's typically favorable hitting environment. Betting action and sharp money flowing into one side often precedes line movement. Recent team performance, head-to-head matchup history, and bullpen availability also influence trader positioning. Breaking news about player health or roster changes in the final hours before first pitch typically triggers the largest price swings.
