Often, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd, potentially differing from initial sportsbook odds due to differing information or biases. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, while this market allows anyone to express their belief about the outcome. If a significant number of users on Polymarket believe a player has a higher chance of winning than implied by sportsbooks, the odds will adjust accordingly. It’s common to see prediction markets outperform traditional odds over time, especially as new information emerges.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each player winning. The price of these shares directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The more shares purchased for a particular player, the higher their price goes, and the greater the implied probability of their victory. This dynamic pricing ensures the market reflects the collective intelligence of all participants trading on Polymarket.

Several factors could influence the odds in this market. Any news regarding player form, injuries, or changes in playing conditions could significantly shift expectations. For example, if one player has a strong performance in a preceding tournament, or if there are reports of an injury affecting either player, this would likely cause the market to adjust. Unexpected weather conditions at the match location could also impact the perceived chances of each player, leading to movement in this market. Public sentiment and expert analysis could also play a role.
