Sportsbooks often set initial lines based on statistical models and expert opinions, while this market allows anyone to trade on their beliefs. This can lead to discrepancies, as prediction markets may incorporate information not yet fully priced into sportsbook odds. It's common to see differences in probabilities, especially as new information emerges or public sentiment shifts closer to the event date. Examining these differences can be a valuable exercise for informed forecasting.
