Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd, often differing from initial sportsbook offerings. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and incorporate a profit margin, while this market allows traders to express their own independent assessments. If a significant number of traders believe a sportsbook’s odds are inaccurate, they can buy shares, driving up the price and effectively creating a counter-opinion. It’s common to see discrepancies, especially as new information emerges or public sentiment shifts, leading to potentially more accurate probabilities in this market compared to traditional betting venues.
