Comparing prediction market odds to sportsbook odds reveals how the wisdom of the crowd differs from professional oddsmakers. Often, prediction markets can offer a more accurate forecast, especially when complex factors are at play. However, sportsbooks have established reputations and sophisticated models. Discrepancies between the two can highlight areas where the market believes sportsbooks are over or underestimating a particular outcome in the Tiburon chess match. It’s important to remember that both represent probabilities based on different methodologies.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly reflects the probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information becomes available, the price adjusts to reflect the collective prediction. The current price indicates the market's assessment of each player’s chances of winning the Tiburon chess match, and is driven entirely by supply and demand for shares.
