Prediction market odds and sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different pricing mechanisms. Sportsbooks set odds to balance their book and lock in profit margins, while prediction markets let traders freely set prices based on their collective belief in an outcome. For this market, prediction market prices tend to incorporate real-time information and trader conviction more dynamically than traditional sportsbook lines, which may adjust less frequently. Comparing the two can reveal where public opinion on the first half winner differs most sharply from bookmaker estimates.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order-book mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing each outcome. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of each share reflects the collective confidence in that result, ranging from near zero to near one hundred cents. As new information emerges or match conditions change, traders adjust their bids and asks, causing prices to shift in real time. This transparent, supply-and-demand-driven model allows you to enter or exit your position at any time before the market closes.

Several factors can shift odds in this market before kickoff and during the first half. Team news—injuries, lineup changes, or tactical announcements—often triggers sharp price moves. Historical head-to-head records, recent form, and home-field advantage also influence trader positioning. Once the match begins, early goals, red cards, or momentum swings can cause rapid repricing. Weather conditions, referee decisions, and real-time performance gaps between the sides will all drive trader activity and price volatility as the first half unfolds.
